The City of Spring Hill is seeking a full-time Public Affairs Specialist. This position is responsible for the City of Spring Hill's communications programs and reports to the City Administrator. 

The Public Affairs Specialist:
  • Produces a monthly City newsletter highlighting upcoming events, programs, and public information. 
  • Oversees content on the City's website, including writing and editing content, sending mass communications,and creating new pages.
  • Manages the City's official social media accounts, including editing content provided by staff and developing multimedia content.
  • Creates and maintains marketing strategies and materials, including promotional publications and advertising. 
  • Coordinates communication of all City activities, including public and special events and civic engagement programs.
  • Attends public events and assists with coordination and photo opportunities.
  • Assists with public information during citywide emergencies and incidents.

Requirements include:
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • One year experience in public relations, website content management, journalism, or social media management.
  • High school diploma or GED. A bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related communications field is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • The ability to express ideas effectively in written and verbal form and to provide clear, concise information to a variety of audiences. 
  • Strong proofreading skills.
  • Working knowledge of social media management.

Salary range begins at $20.08/hour. This is a non-exempt position. No city residency required.
