Parks Superintendent


The City of Spring Hill is seeking a full-time Parks Superintendent. This position oversees the daily operations of the Parks Division, including parks, park and road right-of-way, Aquatic Center, City Hall grounds, landscape maintenance and planning, City Lake, and ponds. Essential functions include: 

  • Supervises employees (both seasonal and full-time as assigned by the Public Works Director)
  • Performs daily walk-throughs of, inspects, repairs, mows, and maintains parks and playgrounds. 
  • Performs master planning and short- and long-term planning for the parks system and parks maintenance. 
  • Works with boards including the Parks Advisory Board, Spring Hill Recreation Commission, and civic groups. 
  • Performs duties as Tree City USA representative.
  • Installs playground equipment and signage.
  • Completes repairs and maintenance, including seasonal opening and closing, at the Spring Hill Aquatic Center.
Two years of similar experience is required with three years of similar experience preferred; applicators chemical license, arborist certification, and pool operator license preferred. An associate's degree from a university or college or 60 hours of college credit in parks maintenance, forestry, or closely related field is required. A bachelor's degree from a university or college or 120 hours of college credit in parks maintenance, forestry, or closely related field is preferred. Applicant must possess a valid Kansas Driver's License and CDL. 

A working knowledge of equipment maintenance, fertilizer applications, safety procedures, and mathematics is required. The employee should:  
  • Be able to operate tractors, mowers, skid loaders, sprayers, power tools, hand tools, and other department equipment
  • Possess a strong mechanical aptitude and excellent supervisory, organizational, public relations, and oral and written communications skills
  • Possess some basic plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and grounds maintenance skills.

Maintenance Worker I 


The City of Spring Hill, KS is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker. This position works with limited supervision and performs maintenance functions of various complexity. 

    The essential job functions are: 
  • Serve as crew member for providing assistance in the utilities operations.
  • Performs utility operations and maintenance.
  • Inspects/repairs water distribution mains, wastewater collection system piping, and manholes.
  • Repairs, operates, and maintains the ground storage and elevated water supply towers, and water pumping distribution system.
  • Repairs, operates, and maintains sanitary sewer lift stations and collection system.
  • Perform wastewater quality tests, handles equipment, and ensures that standards are met in testing of water samples for water distribution and wastewater treatment facility. 
  • Maintains logs of gauge and meter information.
  • Services and repairs pumps and motors, hydrants and meters.
  • Maintains, monitors, and repairs department machinery and equipment.

Law enforcement officer


The City of Spring Hill is seeking a full-time law enforcement officer. At a minimum, applicants must:
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be of good moral character
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Have not been charged or convicted with domestic violence
  • Have no felony convictions, including any felony convictions that have been expunged
  • Have no felony behavior involving the use, production, transportation, or sale of illegal drugs or narcotics
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have or be able to obtain a valid Kansas driver's license
  • Be able to qualify for vehicle insurance in the operation of a motor vehicle

A successful applicant will be required to meet certain job-related sight and hearing standards required to meet the essential job functions of a law enforcement officer.

As a condition of employment, the applicant will be required to successfully complete:
  • Written examination
  • Physical agility assessment
  • Oral interview board
  • Background investigation
  • Psychological testing / polygraph examination
  • Drug screen / medical examination
  • Chief's interview
A successful candidate must have experience in law enforcement and certification by the KLETC. This job requires the employee to work rotating shifts that include nights, weekends, and holidays. Salary begins at $18.50 for uncertified candidates and $22.60 for certified candidates. Certified law enforcement applicants must not have any Brady/Giglio material in background to be eligible for hiring.
