Accountant


The City of Spring Hill is seeking a full-time accountant. This position works with limited supervision and performs accounting functions of variable complexity. Essential job functions include:
  • Maintaining General Ledger, monthly journal entries, and project/account reconciliation.
  • Researching, analyzing, preparing, and presenting complex financial data, records, and reports for management and departmental use. 
  • Forecasting major fund revenue and expenditures.
  • Maintaining the City's fixed asset records.
  • Participating in internal audit function and annual audit. 
  • Assisting in the preparation of the financial statements for the annual CAFR.
  • Verifying proper account distribution and approving payment requests. 
  • Maintaining special assessment records.
  • Assisting in the annual budgeting and capital improvements process.
  • Assisting with monitoring various financial functions such as accounts payable, payroll, utility billing, municipal court, etc.
  • Educating staff, vendors, and members of the public on financial policies and practices.
  • Making recommendations for enhanced internal control.

Requirements


Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred. Experience in public or fund accounting preferred. Combination of education and experience which provide the necessary skills to perform the job considered. 
Salary rage begins at $23.63/hour. This is a non-exempt position. No City residency required. Application deadline: February 24, 2017.
